The Early Bird Gets The Worm: The Benefits of Booking Early

When it comes to travel, everyone knows that booking early is key to getting the best deal. From hotels to flights, wise travellers book well in advance to reap the rewards of booking early.

Leaving it until the last minute

When hotels and scheduled flights approach capacity, prices begin to climb as demand increases – especially during peak seasons like the summer holidays. As seats are taken up and demand runs high, airlines and hotels stop releasing discounted rates – moving up to their full fares.

With holidays and travel options being booked up to a year in advance, leaving your travel plans to the last minute could leave you facing a hefty fee or even unable to travel due to lack of availability.

The benefits of booking early

With such great travel savings to be made, why stop at your flights and accommodation? Booking early gives you peace of mind, allowing you to know that everything is taken care of and all you have to do is relax and enjoy the journey.

In fact, the benefits of booking early don’t just stop at hotels and airfares. Did you know you could save by booking your airport transfers early? Whether you’re travelling to or from the airport, or making a connection – time is of the essence. By booking a taxi last minute, you’re risking problems like availability and traffic resulting in delays. Unlike many taxi companies, we offer a discount on advanced bookings, giving you even more reason to get your travel planned early. Get a taxi quote on your airport transfers.

Stress Free Airport Transfers

Although flying is by far the most efficient way of travelling long distances, it is not always the most stress-free option: waiting around in long queues, dealing with delays, feeling guilty for no reason at customs and tapping your passport pocket every two minutes – and that is before you even get on the plane! Once onboard; crying babies, noisy eaters, fidgeting partners and talkative strangers can all conspire to make your journey anything but enjoyable.

With all this in mind, it is naturally very important to try and make sure your transfers to and from the airport are as stress-free as possible. After all, waiting around for trains, tubes and buses which will more than likely be delayed and jam-packed might just be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

Happily, we can provide you with a specialist airport taxi service that is guaranteed to get you to your destination in a manner which is totally and completely stress-free. Our smooth airport transfers will lighten the load of your luggage and allow you to not only rest yourselves after running the gauntlet at baggage reclaim but also forget all about the hassle and stress of using public transport.

Our airport transfers can make getting to and from busiest airports totally stress-free. So, next time you need picking up or require a taxi to airport, be sure to book your journey with us.

How much will my journey cost?

The Taxicard scheme is subsidised by the London boroughs and the Mayor of London, which means you pay considerably reduced fares. You will pay a flat fare for each journey and your local authority will pay the balance shown in the tables below.

All London taxis have a minimum initial charge of £3.00 on the metremeter when it arrives to pick you up or if you have hailed the taxi in the street

Pricing for Taxicard Journeys

On 1st January 2019 we introduced a maximum fare guarantee. When you make a booking you will be given a maximum fare for that journey based on a price per mile. At the end of the journey, if the fare on the meter is lower than the maximum fare then your contribution will be based on the metered fare. If the fare on the meter is higher, you will be charged the maximum fare given to you when you booked.

The table below shows how much you will pay. The move to a maximum fare guarantee will have a number of customer benefits:

You will know the maximum fare contribution in advance and will not have to worry about this costing more while in the vehicle;

The same journey will always have the same maximum fare contribution no matter what day or time of the day you travel.

As well as delivering more cost certainty that members asked for, we estimate that, on average, most members will make savings because of this change. You may not notice any difference for journeys up to two miles in a taxi where a minimum contribution will still apply. It is possible some longer fixed price trips, even with the subsidy, may be more expensive than a private hire alternative outside of the scheme. If you consider that this could be the case you may wish to make your trip outside of the Taxicard scheme. The provision of a maximum price at the time of booking will at least allow you to make more informed choices about the most cost-effective way to travel.

Taxicard Fares – What you will pay for your journey

The table below shows the maximum that Taxicard members will pay for journeys in taxis depending on the number of miles travelled. There is a fixed maximum rate per mile so you will always know in advance the most you will have to contribute towards the journey. To increase supply a small proportion of journeys are provided by Private Hire Vehicles (PHVs). Different rates apply and these are available on our website or by asking CityFleet. If you wish to know the fare you can ask at the point of booking, either by phone, online or via the App. If you hail a taxi from a rank or in the street the driver can tell you how much your journey will cost. If the metered fare is less than the maximum fare shown in the table, your contribution will be based on the lower amount (the metered fare).

The Taxicard subsidy is funded jointly by Transport for London (TfL) and the London boroughs. If your borough allows double-swiping (two subsidies in one trip) you can decide if and when you wish to use it.

If you need taxi in London Wandswort or Balham, Guildford, Bracknell, Bracknell Executive  or airport transfers, Ascot, Maidenhead, Morden, Wimbledon, Rayners Park, Harrow, Amersham, Hayes or  Colindale!

Tips And Tricks For Handling The Hassle Of Airports

Traveling is difficult, but it’s even harder when you’re navigating the ins and outs of a new airport.
If you’re one of the many people who are tired of the trials and tribulations of airport travel, try these tips to keep a clear head.

Know your anxiety triggers

It’s natural to feel stressed out at the airport, especially if it’s your first time flying. But larger airports can be crowded, loud, expensive, and difficult to navigate. If any of these stressors sound overwhelming, you might need to rely on a few ways to quell your anxiety.

People rely on a number of ways to ease their anxieties. As such, it can be difficult to nail down a piece of advice that will work for everyone. You might want to bring a distraction, like a book or a movie on a tablet to pass the time. Detaching yourself from the source of stress you’re experiencing is essential. You can also rely on friends or other family members when you’re feeling stressed, whether they’re on the flight with you or a phone call away.

Pack with a purpose

It might seem easy to throw all your items in your luggage and call it a day, but it will be nearly impossible to pass through airport security without some organization. This includes following the liquid restrictions to a T and packing items that need to be removed in strategic locations. Keep in mind that electronic devices need to be removed from your bags when you pass through airport security.

Dress comfortably

Unless you’re running to a fashion show as soon as you exit the airport, you’re better off wearing clothing that makes you feel comfortable, especially for longer flights or overnight trips. You should also wear outerwear that’s easy to remove, like a simple zip-up coat and slip-on shoes.

Rely on airport to airport shuttle services

With airport transfer services, you never need to worry about missing a connected flight. Did you know that more than half of baby boomers will experience issues when they’re planning a trip? Thanks to the Airport Transfers, any airport become easily accessible.

4 Reasons Why Business Travel is Important

In an era when mobile phones and video conferencing are ubiquitous, some people question the need for business travel at all. Many companies view business travel as simply an expense and don’t see the benefits that come from it. Sitting in an office and staring at a glowing screen is not a replacement for putting your feet on the ground. There are four key reasons why business travel is still important.

Closing a Deal or Signing New Business

Face-to-face meetings are important to closing business. The rate of converting prospects to actual customers nearly doubles when a face-to-face meeting is added. In many industry segments, that can mean closing nearly 100% of the business deals.  Some companies won’t sign large contracts without a face-to-face meeting between company leaders. Think about it—would you trust your professional future to someone you’ve never met?

Networking

When you are out in the field, you have the chance to meet people you would never interact with if you were sitting in your office. This networking can take several forms. One scenario is that you meet someone you have no relationship with at all, strike up a conversation on a plane or in a restaurant, and you find that there are synergies between your businesses. Another possibility is that you’re visiting an existing customer and meet someone else you don’t have a relationship with, and you figure out how your company can expand its footprint with this new contact.  You are broadening your book of business with an existing customer just by networking. You never would have uncovered these opportunities without an in-person meeting.

Leadership

Two key parts of leadership are the ability to inspire others to have confidence in you and your company and to motivate others, even if you lack authority. To do this, you need to be visible—both with colleagues and with customers. Taking the time to meet with people in-person can help them feel that you are invested in their success.

Human Interaction

The biggest reason why business travel is important is to foster personal interactions. Face-to-face meetings can increase understanding and empathy, reduce miscommunication, and foster a team spirit of “us.” Technology is not a substitute for getting in front of your customers and colleagues. Business travel is not only a cost to your business; it can also result in tremendous benefits and yield new business opportunities.
